اشترته شركة جوجل بعد ما كان تحت ادارة أندرويد (Android) في بالو ألتو، كاليفورنيا (Palo Alto, California) في أكتوبر 2003 من قبل أندي روبين (Andy Rubin) المؤسس المشارك Danger)، وريتش مينر (Rich Miner) المؤسس المشارك Wildfire Communications, Inc.)، ونيك سيرز(NickSears) (أحد نوَاب رئيس T-Mobile) وكريس وايت (Chris White) رئيس تصميم الواجهات في (WebTV).
