English: NGC 2523 is the bright barred spiral galaxy on the right side of this image. If you were to turn NGC 2523 so that it was edge-on, it would look very much like NGC 2523B- the slender galaxy towards the left edge of the field. While these galaxies are not interacting with each other, they are both around 150 million light years away. This image was taken as part of Advanced Observing Program (AOP) program at Kitt Peak Visitor Center during 2014.
This media was created by the National Optical-Infrared Astronomy Research Laboratory (NOIRLab).
