He was the eldest son of Robert Owen, Scottish sociologist, who founded the utopian community of New Harmony, Indiana. Robert Dale was an ardent Spiritualist who promoted the cause privately and publicly and in the State Senate. It was he who converted his father to Spiritualism."Robert Dale Owen is the son of Robert Owen who founded New Harmony, Indiana. He sat with Livermore and Kate Fox.
